Orange County is known as the "Tech Coast" for its many software and biomedical companies. The pharmaceutical segment of Orange County grew 37% in the last 6 years versus 2% in the U.S. The computer industry in Orange County is composed of over 2200 hardware and electronic corporations and employs over 80,000 OC residents. 

  • Orange County's $113 billion economy places it 32nd among the nations of the world.
  • Orange County was recently ranked  #1 in quality of life among U.S. cities with one of the lowest crime rates and unemployment rates in the U.S. 
  • OC boasts forty two miles of pristine coastline, 35,000 acres of regional parkland, three harbors, 357 miles of trails and bikeways, 11 public and 7 private colleges.
  • The OC is home to 60 cities.
  • We have the nation's fifth largest number of registered voters and is the second largest county to employ electronic voting. According to the 2000 Census, 40% of the population in our county speaks a language other than English in their homes.
